Google Summer of Code 2024 Project Journal

A public record of my Google Summer of Code work on ontology versioning with DBpedia.

I built this website to document my Google Summer of Code 2024 work with DBpedia. The weekly notes cover technical decisions, implementation progress, review feedback, and lessons from developing ontology versioning infrastructure in an open-source project.

Context

The journal accompanies the DBpedia Ontology Time Machine work. It preserves the process behind the technical outcome: learning the ecosystem, discussing requirements, publishing progress, and making decisions visible to mentors and future contributors.

My role

I wrote and maintained the public project journal while contributing to the ontology versioning work. The site served as both documentation and a lightweight accountability tool during the project.

What it shows

  • Weekly progress on ontology versioning infrastructure.
  • Technical decisions and implementation notes.
  • Open-source collaboration and review habits.
  • Communication around uncertainty, blockers, and next steps.
